Mechanical Estimator
My client is looking to recruit a assistance mechanical estimator on a freelance basis to join the property services team.
This role is to assist in the preparation of competitive tenders and estimates for all types of engineering work.
It will be necessary to work with new technology and associated systems and where appropriate existing new technology agreements and consultative procedures will be applied in accordance with County Council policies.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES AS SET OUT BY THE CLIENT
1) To provide assistance in the preparation of full analytical competitive tenders and other estimates from reports, plans and specifications and Bills of Quantities for all type of engineering work.
2) To assist in the preparation of reports and advise on competitive bids prior to submission.
3) To maintain complete records for all work carried out.
4) To carry out research for costing and estimating information and data.
5) To assist in the preparation of interim valuations for major and minor works in progress, monitor contract cost performance including identification and reimbursement for variations and additional work. Prepare and submit when required claims for additional payments, day work accounts and the like including the preparation and settlement of all sub contract and suppliers accounts and the main contract.
6) To assist in preparing, pursuing and advising operational managers on claims against sub-contractors and suppliers to recover proper contract entitlement.
7) To assist in the operation of financial reports for work in progress as required by divisional heads and operational managers.
8) To assist in processing requests for quotations and orders for materials, components, plant and specialist services.
9) To liaise with departmental staff, other departments, contractors, suppliers and other statutory authorities in matters relating to work as appropriate.
10) To attend meetings, seminars, training workshops and other work related issues as required, which may involve working outside normal working hours.
11) To implement changes resulting from new and revised policies and legislation.
12) To ensure that agreed Council policies, appropriate standing orders and financial regulations are followed in the performance of the duties of the post.
13) To provide a service to clients and maintain a good customer relationship as a priority.
14) To act at all times as a representative of the department and ensure that the customer is completely satisfied.
15) To initiate suggestions and report customers' comments for improvement to the department's performance.
16) To comply with all Health and Safety, other relevant legislation and County Property Divisions Codes of Practice, in performance of the duties of the post.
17) To understand and comply with the County Council's Equal Opportunity and Environmental Policies.
18) To undertake any other duties appropriate to the post objective as required by management (appropriate to the level of the post).
