This post has been designed to support those wishing to apply for post of Assistant Psychologist (at SLHG or to other hospital services) to develop their CV and competitiveness at interviews for such posts. It will clearly add value also to future application for a doctorate programme.

• Opportunities to gain experience working in a multidisciplinary team (Consultant Psychiatrist, Forensic Psychologist, Consultant Forensic Psychiatrists, Chartered Clinical Psychologists, Occupational Therapist, Social Workers, Specialist Teachers which we are certain will be of great benefit in later work as an Assistant Psychologist
• An opportunity to observe and work with an Assistant psychologist for half-day a week.
• An opportunity to benefit from the knowledge, experience and mentorship by Assistant Psychologists, Forensic Psychologists and Consultant Psychologists on how to improve one’s portfolio.

In return, in addition to the general care and supportive role in relation to clients’ care. The Senior Healthcare Worker will be expected to use their psychological training to support the Care Support Workers in the day-to-day support and care of the clients and to be able to communicate more robust information to the Multidisciplinary team to aid management reviews and treatment interventions.
