Are you passionate about music? Do you have experience in fundraising and managing events? Then volunteer as a Fundraising Co-ordinator for Oxjam Derby 2009!
Oxjam is Oxfam’s month long music festival with a difference. Every year, hundreds of music events of all shapes and sizes are organised by volunteers across the country.
The Oxjam Derby team are looking for a passionate and committed person to help co-ordinate all aspects of fundraising for the Derby team's flagship event, taking place on Sunday 25th October 2009, and to support our volunteers' own events throughout October.
Motivated by making a difference through funds raised, and perhaps a tiny bit competitive, you'll work with your team to make sure your town or city raises more than anywhere else, through events and other activities. You'll be making sure your team's main event raises tons of money - through minimising expenditure, effective ticketing and through any number of more creative fundraising activities you devise - and you'll help other event organisers in your area maximise their profits too.
You'll also be coming up with a whole range of ways of fundraising between now and October to generate enough money to cover your team's necessary expenses and any outgoings that you decide need to be spent on your event. The more creative you are with these fundraising ideas, the more money you'll end up making for Oxfam's work!
This role requires a great numeracy, communication, organisation and interpersonal skills. Leadership experience and a knowledge of fundraising methods is desired. It's a big responsibility, but with the support of your regional manager and other team members you will gain some great experience AND help fight poverty!
This position is voluntary and will require a minimum commitment of 8 hours per week until November 2009.
